ᐅ Which manufacturer should I buy the heat pump and ventilation system combination from?

Good evening,

Is it better to buy the heat pump and the central ventilation system from the same manufacturer, or is that not a good idea? Which manufacturers would you recommend? According to my research, Stiebel Eltron and Wolf are considered "good" manufacturers, or is there perhaps a "hidden gem"?

Space requirements, living situation, daily routines, floor plan, house orientation, budget—these are roughly my first five points.
Then come noise issues (internal/external), lighting, shading, ceiling heights, plot of land. Technical questions (ground-source heat pump, air-to-water heat pump, air-to-air heat pump, electrical/automation), heating design for underfloor heating, and so on.
Eventually, materials for the plot. Type (for example, preferring hardwood flooring or tiles, interior doors) or colors. Finally, building materials themselves (unless noise protection or a building permit/planning permission or design regulations dictate what is necessary right from the start).

Thank you very much, this helps me a lot.

I have read that it is advisable to get the heat pump and the central ventilation system from the same provider because then you have one technician and one app as your single point of contact. Isn’t that a good approach?

The approach of awarding the construction of these components individually to a local company, which will later also handle maintenance, makes sense. Whether this company sources everything from one manufacturer or not does not really matter.

To be fair, neither a heat pump nor a mechanical ventilation system really requires serious maintenance. Nothing that can’t be done yourself in 5 minutes and for about 5€ (approximately $5.50) if you want to. However, maintenance-wise, they are a completely different matter compared to a gas boiler – heat pump maintenance is similar to that of a refrigerator. The only additional task is replacing filters.

I guess I wasn’t clear enough. Besides maintenance, there is convenient servicing – if anything related to heating or ventilation isn’t working properly, there is exactly one point of contact. Keep it simple.

In times of skilled labor shortages, there are companies that refer you to the manufacturer. In such cases, it can actually be useful to choose a manufacturer, as this can save a trip. However, you usually don’t know this in advance, since no one advertises that they do not want to provide service.

Well, not such a straightforward topic after all 😕 Are Stiebel Eltron and Wolf considered "good" manufacturers for heat pumps and mechanical ventilation with heat recovery?
