ᐅ Cutting through the ring beam to enlarge the window opening

Dear experts,

The triangular window (see photos) is to be replaced by a rectangular one that widens downward. For this, the ring beam below would need to be cut. The structural engineer briefly looked at it and said it wouldn’t be an issue. However, now, just before the window installation (by a specialist company), I’m a bit unsure.

There are structural calculations and plans from 1994, when the extension was built. Maybe these could help you with your assessment?

Then he can provide you with a brief written statement for a small fee. I also don’t expect any issues, but IF problems do arise, you will be the one who loses, not the structural engineer you tried to save.

You are absolutely right, but when I inquired yesterday, he informed me that I should contact someone else because he stopped working as of August 15.
Another structural engineer I reached out to is only available in 3 to 4 months.
