PATPATPAT19 Mar 2025 10:20Hi. I would like to paint or spray our 200m2 (2,150 sq ft) wooden ceilings and beams white. They are made of profiled boards and KVH beams. The profiled boards have a natural wood color, and the beams are dark brown. Of course, I am thoroughly sanding everything beforehand. Now, I am looking for a good white paint that ideally primes, seals, and covers in one. It should also be compatible with an airless sprayer (Wagner 250M). I have already tested Jansen HDF Pro (with brush and roller), but the paint only provides moderate coverage and is very viscous. Does anyone have a recommendation for a suitable paint? Ideally, it would be solvent-free, but that is not a strict requirement. Thanks very much. Greetings from Cologne

Take a look at Osmo; I have used their products many times. I remember that we applied decorative wax directly on a wooden floor without sanding (just cleaning), and it worked perfectly, still holding up well after 10 years. I believe they also offer sprayable paints, so you might want to check that out.
I’m not quite sure how that would look with white paint afterward, since every dark spot (knots, etc.) would be very visible, and there will be plenty of those. Sanding 200 square meters (2,150 square feet) of profiled wood on the ceiling is quite a task—ouch—and then spraying indoors... Do you have experience with that? For me, it sounds more like a situation where I would either screw something new on top or replace the old material if absolutely necessary.
Do you have any pictures?

SpeedyGam13 Aug 2025 20:33I also want to paint or varnish about 70m2 (750 sq ft) of wooden ceiling. An XLVP device is available. Would you recommend paint or varnish? And which manufacturer or product? What is better or healthier for a bedroom?

Would you recommend paint or varnish? What difference do you see between those? There is technically no such thing as just "paint," only pigments and the corresponding products, so varnish is also a type of paint, and varnish is applied by brushing or spraying. What do you want to achieve? Your goal determines the choice.S

What do you want to achieve? That will determine the choice. Actually, I just want to get the ceiling white and create a healthy indoor climate.
Now, the options are either the 3-in-1 wood ceiling paint or priming and then varnishing.
I’m interested in knowing what the difference will be in the end.
