Hello,
I am still in the planning phase for building a house.
My wife would like a vinyl floor in the bathroom, including in the walk-in shower.

Does anyone have experience with this or know if and how it could be done?
From what I have found, it doesn’t seem like such a bad idea.
However, I have some doubts about the whole thing.

Thanks in advance for your help.

If there is a high risk of urine, I would lean towards tiles or natural stone. Any surface with joints obviously has joints, but urine doesn’t need wide joints to disappear.

Otherwise, anyone with a dog has probably experienced such accidents, and I don’t see that as a problem. I never had a cat, and while I love animals, I wouldn’t let a pet “dictate” the choice of a nice floor in my new house.

We had a Boxer for many years on solid pine floorboards without any issues. Of course, you could see his claws because he was always running around, but that doesn’t affect a rustic floor either technically or visually.

I don’t mind criticizing you, but just to clarify: air transports heat by convection, but it can only transfer or absorb heat through conduction and absorption of thermal radiation by greenhouse gases.
Additionally, the greenhouse gases in the air actually emit thermal radiation.

My wife is strongly against hardwood flooring and prefers click vinyl because of the cats.
Exactly my sense of humor. What happens if you miss a pee spot on a joint that’s not completely sealed?

Well, it’s clear that joints aren’t pee-proof, but I still expected there would be significantly more time to fix it here 😀

By the way, you’re partly to blame for making me reconsider vinyl.

I think we can all live with that blame.

At least I was able to convince my wife to use tiles in the bathroom.

Good decision! There are so many beautiful tiles.. We have a two-meter (6.5 feet) long tiled walk-in shower, but by now I wouldn’t mind a traditional shower tray either.

But just wait for @nordanney, he’s more of the parquet expert here.

No, that’s still @KlaRa.

We chose bamboo parquet for cost reasons. We wanted a wooden floor, and for us it didn’t matter that bamboo isn’t technically wood, since it looks like a wooden floor. The bamboo parquet is very hard. Our dog hasn’t left any marks yet. Back when we were building, it was about half the price of comparable parquet. But of course, it’s a matter of taste whether you want that floor covering throughout the whole house. In the meantime, I have been annoyed about the lacquered surface because everywhere it said it’s smarter to have an oiled surface. But what’s done is done: after 11 years, we haven’t needed to do any maintenance yet, although an office chair scrapes over the surface.
