Hello everyone,

I have an Ikea kitchen with wall cabinets (60 cm (24 inches) wide and 100 cm (39 inches) high, three units) and a hanging rail, and I’m currently trying to mount the wall cabinets securely to a wall.

The wall is a gypsum wall about 50 mm (2 inches) thick with a cavity behind it. At the hardware store, I was first recommended Fischer DuoPower anchors 8x40 mm, but the employee noticed that they require a drilling depth of 50 mm (2 inches) and are therefore not suitable for this wall.

In terms of length, the size 6 anchors would fit, but they don’t hold much weight.

Which anchors are suitable for this case, or what is the best way to mount the cabinets securely?

The wall is in a DDR prefab panel building. On the other side is the bathroom. According to the building manager, it is gypsum mixed with straw, about 50 mm (2 inches) thick.

Best regards and thanks

How about toggle bolts / spring toggle anchors – whether Fischer or Tox.

Which ones exactly would be suitable? Nylon toggle bolts or, for example, the Fischer toggle bolts KD3?

I tend to be cautious and would use KM10 for the upper cabinets. Or Tox Spagat (Pro). You should check the load capacities to see what weights they can support.

Thank you very much! The Tox Spagat Pro look good and have the following load capacities:

Plasterboard 9.5 mm (3/8 inch) 20 kg (44 lbs)
Plasterboard 12.5 mm (1/2 inch) 40 kg (88 lbs)
Double plasterboard 2 x 12.5 mm (2 x 1/2 inch) 70 kg (154 lbs)
Gypsum fiberboard 12.5 mm (1/2 inch) 60 kg (132 lbs)
Particleboard/Plywood 120 kg (265 lbs)

What load capacities are suitable for tall cabinets? 60 kg (132 lbs) on 12.5 mm (1/2 inch) thickness sounds reasonable.

Holding values are per screw!? I think so....
