Hello,
I wanted to ask you all, we are facing very hot days again.
How can you cool the house down a bit without using an air conditioner or reduce the sensation of heat?
We can’t simply install an air conditioner because we have a KfW 55 standard and are not allowed to make any changes for the first 10 years, or we would need to hire an energy consultant to recalculate everything.
We shade all the windows during such heat, but we can’t keep all the windows closed. The dog also needs to be able to go into the garden.
What would you recommend?
Should we use regular fans? Tower fans or pedestal fans?
What do you think about fans with humidifiers? Wouldn’t they just increase the indoor humidity unnecessarily?
Are there fans or devices that can actively cool the air, or small air conditioners that don’t require fresh air intake, an outdoor unit, or a vent hose leading outside?
On very hot days above 30°C (86°F), we have about 25–26°C (77–79°F) inside as the highest temperature.

Do you know a good quiet wall fan?I have not dealt with wall fans yet and cannot give a recommendation. Regarding the noise:
1. The decibel (dB) rating indicates volume level but does not describe the quality of the sound. To illustrate: a quiet squeaking can be more annoying than a louder, steady hum.
2. It is unclear what sound-amplifying characteristics the wall in your house has.
We have a ceiling fan with a light. The fan itself has two switches, one for the light and one for the fan. So if we don’t need the fan, it can be turned off on the unit, while the light is generally kept on there and controlled via the light switch.
I find you as the original poster difficult. One thing doesn’t work, another can’t be done, the next is bad, and the fourth is impractical.

Back to the beginning.
The house was designed, reviewed, and approved with summer heat protection in mind.
If an air conditioning system is installed now, it is simply an additional comfort feature.
No one would require a new calculation if, after the fact, an infrared heated mirror is added in the bathroom for personal comfort.
Who is supposed to review a new calculation at this point?

And no one will create a new energy calculation for that, right? There are two ways to look at this if you have received KfW subsidies.
1. Official:
You commit yourself (and the future buyer of your property) to not make any changes to the house for a period of 10 years that would invalidate the KfW 55 classification. An air conditioning system can potentially have a negative impact. You only find out for sure if you consult an expert and have a new calculation done if necessary.
2. Unofficial:
Just do it and enjoy.

Considering just waiting until the situation passes is, of course, even more economical.
So the heat cannot be so severe that you have an urgent problem to solve, even if it is very hot right now.

Objectively speaking: no one really plans an installed air conditioning system at such short notice. Usually, it’s planned in autumn/winter and installed in spring.
If it’s unbearably hot in the house right now, you’ll find me at Mediamarkt this evening buying an affordable pedestal/tower fan. Spending around 50-100€ should at least provide some cooling during the night.
