Hello everyone
I would like to make better use of the ceiling height in the living area. Currently, the screed including insulation is about 12cm (5 inches) thick.
I could reduce this to 9cm (3.5 inches) by using a self-leveling screed. This would give me 3cm (1 inch) more room height.
Right now, the step into the apartment (from the stairwell into the apartment including the floor) is about 3cm (1 inch).

A step of 6cm (2.5 inches) might be too high and unexpected for guests?
Is there another good solution? I have thought about adding an intermediate step of about 3cm (1 inch) in the stairwell.

Unfortunately, accessibility is not an option since the building does not have an elevator.

Instead of increasing the riser height, you could consider eliminating the trip hazard by adding 3cm (1¼ inches) more in total rise.

I already asked in the other thread why a 6cm (2.4 inches) rise would be too large, but two steps of 3cm (1.2 inches) each wouldn’t be. Also, what exactly do you mean by an intermediate step of 3cm (1.2 inches) in the stairwell? How is that supposed to work? Please draw it out.

This is roughly how I imagine it.

Absolutely terrible as an entrance to an apartment.

What is the ceiling height of the individual rooms?
Please clarify a bit more.
These small steps are more uncomfortable and dangerous than a large single step.
