Did you wear everything only once before washing it?
Sounds like you’re starting to do what others have always done.
I hope you realize how cringe-worthy that sentence is.
But good that it’s working now.
I also wear clothes once and then wash them…

My wife wants to get out of our current living situation as soon as possible and is fully on board. We want to finally make our dream of owning a house come true. Our current apartment is simply too small, we can’t invite anyone over, we don’t have any outdoor space or a private room to retreat to. I understand that I can’t take everything away from my wife—women need some "personal space," nice clothes, and so on. Perfumes, real hair extensions. Some things will be cut back, but my first idea was: no more expensive perfumes, no expensive makeup, no clothes (only Shein)
(...)Yes. The problem is that you won’t be able to return to your old, high-consumption lifestyle once you own the house. Maybe you can hold out like that for a year or two to fulfill the dream... but owning a house still costs money, even if you own it outright. And it costs a lot if you can’t buy the house completely finished and pay all at once.
Keep that in mind.

Presumably, the laundry goes into the washing machine first and then into the dryer. It’s much less effort than it sounds. I wash my clothes between trips myself, and it takes me about 20 minutes of active time until the suitcase is packed again with fresh clothes for two weeks. I think most of the time is actually spent after washing and drying: sorting, rolling socks, etc. Also, not everything is wrinkle-free enough straight out of the dryer, even for me—and I’m tolerant of wrinkles.
By the way, my reaction of near shock was never about the time involved.

That is also the unspoken agreement, which is why I tolerate the aforementioned decadence. Then you are a more tolerant person than I am. It wouldn’t work for me; I would go crazy.
The story from the ski trip describes a neurosis: being dirty because you’re disgusted by a used but reasonably clean towel.
We are drifting completely off topic here, and that’s my fault. Sorry.

For me, my shockingly intense surprise was never really about time, by the way. Then what? Don’t tell me it’s about the environment or CO2, or else we could start the debate about what a single-family house with 160m² (1,722 sq ft), plus a double garage and a stone terrace, means for the environment. Or the annual holiday flight to the Mediterranean or the South Pacific, depending on the budget.

Don’t start with the environment or CO2Besides that, there is also the fact that it protects the laundry itself.
