ᐅ Transformer station near new residential development

5 meters (16 feet) away from our driveway and 11 meters (36 feet) from the nearest planned corner of the house, there is a 630 kVA transformer station intended to supply the new housing development. It is located to the north, beside the property.

Are there any experiences regarding radiation (magnetic field)?
Has anyone built their house very close to such a station?
Best regards

All currently known effects. No one really knows what we will understand about this in 10, 20, or 30 years. Maybe there are effects we are not aware of today.

Yes, that is possible, and everyone can assess the likelihood individually. The question is what this means for taking action.

If I felt uneasy about it, I would simply avoid it.

That is a result of uncertainty caused by vague thoughts about the future.

Of course, we do not know what we currently do not know. There is a certain logic to that. We also have experience that findings have repeatedly had to be revised. The question, as already stated, is: What does this mean for decision-making? What should I rely on?

In this context, I find relying on the current state of scientific knowledge—with some almost indisputable findings and many well-researched correlations—a very sensible approach. Of course, one can apply an additional safety margin for oneself, for example, accepting only one-tenth of the transformer’s radiation limits. Since every limit involves a degree of arbitrariness, that is possible. Objectively, this does not necessarily improve the decision. But generally, we want to live in our homes with a high quality of life, and latent fear is a poor advisor. So trust your instincts, and if you consistently feel uncomfortable, simply don’t proceed. That is also a valid and safe decision.

Yes... But that’s not how people work. This is also the current state of high-level scientific research in the fields of human psychology and sociology.

If you believe in science, then don’t believe only in findings from physics and mathematics...

Therefore, the only answer can be this: anyone who feels uneasy and has this irrational feeling will not be reassured by a letter from the radiation protection authority stating "No concerns... wait... no concerns..."

Then you have to live with the uneasy feeling... Because the little house has to be somewhere, otherwise there would be no electricity.
And if I now mention the force released when a low-pressure gas line with just a few millibars (inches of water column) leaks and explodes... phew...

Both are complete nonsense.

The fact that we have not strongly opposed such nonsense and "I just feel it" attitudes for decades has led to science skepticism and conspiracy theories becoming socially acceptable in our society.

There are limit values that are adhered to, and everything outside the restricted area is absolutely uncritical.

It’s strange that in Bavaria wells are being drilled despite this nasty “nonsense” …

The way people are hated on in this forum is once again really unacceptable.

Can’t people just have different opinions without being immediately disparaged?

I haven’t posted for years because I didn’t want to deal with this, and as soon as I post again, I’m reminded why….

Is Bavaria supposed to combat blue-green algae in the so-called “active water” areas?

Putting aside that no one is prevented from consulting hydrogeological maps...

I have no idea what you’re talking about… I’m referring to private well drillings around here, where, whether you believe in it or not, a dowser comes by.

That’s all I want to say about it. I’m more concerned about the way people are speaking here.

Would you talk to people like that during a discussion at the office?

Unbelievable.

Unbelievable.

If someone is talking nonsense, they need to be told.

And theories like water revitalization, energized water, dowsing rods, homeopathy, harmful underground water veins, and so on have been proven to be nonsense.

Regarding the blue-green algae issue, search for Altmühlsee.
