Hello everyone,

we have plastered a total of 120 sqm (1,292 sq ft) of walls and now need to sand them (or have them sanded).

I could rent a Festool sander with dust extraction for 50 euros per day. How long would a reasonably skilled beginner need for this area? A company has offered me a price of 2,000 euros. That seems quite high to me.

I would appreciate your assessment.

Best regards,
Ralle

1. What is your goal for the walls?
2. What exactly is included in the quote?
3. Sanding is quite an effort – just holding the machine against the wall is unfortunately not enough.

Question 1 is crucial for that. For 120 sqm (1300 sq ft) at Q3/Q4 level? Two to three weeks. After sanding comes more sanding, because usually one round of filling is not enough.

Only 120m2 (1292 sq ft) of walls, that’s just our ground floor! Or are you referring to the floor area?

The walls are going to be painted afterwards.

It is only a 3-room apartment, not the whole house.

Sanding once is usually not enough. Then fill again and do the final sanding.

Then it is too expensive

Thank you for the information. That already helps me a lot.

Another idea: Could I avoid sanding if I don’t paint the skim-coated wall but instead apply a fine textured plaster (Knauf Easy Putz)?
