ᐅ Thicker Wear Layer in Hardwood Flooring – Is the Extra Cost Worth It?

gunjunHello,
we are currently selecting the hardwood flooring for our construction project. We have chosen a parquet from Terhürne (natural oiled oak, model B12 or B12b).
The parquet flooring is offered with two different wear layer thicknesses: 3.5 mm (30 years manufacturer’s warranty) and 2.5 mm (15 years manufacturer’s warranty). The additional cost is 8 € per m² (approximately 0.75 € per ft²). We have about 150 m² (1,615 ft²) to install, so the total extra cost would be around 1,200 €.
Is this additional cost worth it in practice?
Probably the more expensive option can be sanded one more time, but is that really done?
What would you recommend?
Thanks for your feedback!

I would definitely go for the higher-quality option.

What would you do? I would choose the thinner layer because I don’t think I would actually sand it down multiple times.
