Hello everyone,

My wife and I have bought a house built in 1964. We are still undecided between demolition and rebuilding or a full renovation. Our biggest concern regarding the renovation is the foundation slab. As you can see, it is quite thin concrete between the strip footings. However, the section also shows that the slab in the front area (the house is on a slope, front area = garden side or living room) has a different structure. Can an expert among you explain what this drawing reveals about the construction? We want to avoid losing ceiling height by adding thick insulation on the slab and, even more importantly, we want to avoid making changes to the stairs or similar. Looking forward to your feedback!

Thanks and best regards,
Alex

No. We can see that, but it is not too thin.

I prefer the term specialist. And yes, for that, you shouldn’t have left out the floor plans.
