Hello everyone,

we are currently planning our bathroom and considering several options. The focus is not only on the bathroom layout but also on the placement of the windows. We are uncertain how well the proposed variants will provide sufficient natural light in the bathroom. Therefore, we would appreciate your input!

The bathroom is located on the upper floor (full story) and measures 3.91m x 3.00m (13 ft x 10 ft). The bottom side of the plan faces the street (a small side street in a new development area, with a distance of about 4 m (13 ft) between the house and the street), and the left side of the plan faces a neighboring plot that is still under development.

The bathroom should include a shower of about 1.00m x 1.20m (3 ft 3 in x 3 ft 11 in), a bathtub (180 x 100cm (71 in x 39 in)), a washbasin with a mirror, a toilet, and a heated towel rail.
Here are the current layout options. I look forward to your ideas and comments!

Badezimmer-Grundriss: Wanne links, Walk-in Dusche rechts, WC und Waschtisch, Schrank; Nordausrichtung.

Badezimmer-Layout: Wanne links, Walk-In Dusche rechts, WC links unten, Waschtisch Mitte.

Grundriss eines Badezimmers: Waschtisch, WC, Walk-in-Dusche, Schrank, Vanne, Maße 391x300.

Also, I would reconsider the door of the freezer room: you need access more from the entrance area than from the kitchen side.
Dirty shoes, etc., need a place to go without being visible from the living area.
Also, the kitchen is too small and cramped. For two doors, the freezer room is too small. Instead of a door, you could add a 90cm (35 inch) base cabinet and countertop in the kitchen to compensate for the lack of storage space.

Interesting remark. We actually came to the same conclusion yesterday when we saw the kitchen in the 3D animation. It’s already been implemented—I’ll share the current version once I’m back home. Do you have any other comments on the floor plan?
We’re still debating whether to swap the positions of the kitchen and living area. What do you think?
Regarding the bathroom, we have a new design proposal from the exterior perspective as well. I’ll share that later too.

About the bathroom

The dimensions are still missing (this is the third time it has been mentioned)!

You haven’t really positioned the curtains already, have you?
It’s better to skip the extras during the planning phase. The more you add, the more you have to deal with deleting and starting over. However, this is often necessary when going into detail—like now with the telecom door.

I am currently working on converting the floor plan into a digital visualization. The dimensions are still missing; I will add those later.
The external dimensions of the house are 10.63 x 9.37 meters (35 ft x 31 ft).

Why don’t you simply show the plan instead of redrawing it? Dimensions should be included unless they’ve been cropped out. Or do you only have brochure images of a standard house model?
Copying drawings doesn’t work well, especially because users who are still struggling with the software often leave out details they overlook or underestimate. Then the community ends up discussing something that doesn’t match reality later on. Simple photos of the original plans are best, and even casual sketches on graph paper are more useful than any blocky computer graphics.

What do you particularly like? Why?: open living-dining-kitchen area; straight staircase; lots of light / floor-to-ceiling windows; separate area for wardrobes; equal-sized children’s rooms (second child planned mid-term)
What don’t you like? Why?: bathroom layout still unclear; “open” cloakroom area in hallway
Estimated price according to architect/planner: about 450,000
Personal price limit for house including fixtures: ---
Preferred heating technology: air-to-water heat pump

Why did the design end up like this?
Standard floor plan from several house suppliers with additional personal requirements added

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Attached is the latest floor plan draft with dimensions – unfortunately taken from the visualization tool, so dimension lines are not precise. However, the key measurements are included. I hope this is sufficient for an initial evaluation.
As mentioned, we are generally interested in your feedback. The door to the utility room has already been changed. The bathroom layout has also been revised to create a more harmonious front facade.
Our biggest questions:
1) Bathroom layout
2) Swap the positions of the living room and kitchen or not.

Many thanks and kind regards!

If you take a screenshot from the software, you can also select dimensions, which will then be displayed.
Would you like to also provide the plot with the street and the house orientation on it?
