Hello everyone,
We are currently planning our new build and are wondering if it makes sense to skip the telecommunications connection.
We have been using cable broadband for years and don’t really need a connection from the telecom provider.
Is there any reason not to do this?
Thank you very much for your opinions.
Good luck
Martin

Bauabenteurer18 Aug 2014 11:07If I remember correctly, Telekom charges the 400 EUR fee only when installing the connection inside the house. If the connection is installed on the outside wall of the house, it is completely free. I would definitely apply for that.
I consider that just a nice rumor, but nothing more – aside from the fact that (1) I wouldn’t want a service connection point on the exterior wall of the house, and (2) this installation method hasn’t really been used for about 100 years. Besides, I can’t remember ever seeing an option for (x) exterior house wall on the application form.
Good luck

Even here, Telekom has costs that they pass on to the customer.
Putting aside the costs – how unattractive does it look when the connection box is surface-mounted on the outside wall...
Where Telekom does make a significant price difference is in the fees for the house connection when the telephone/internet contract is signed at the same time as the house connection, compared to the house connection without the corresponding contract.
Can you provide evidence for the price difference? It may be true that the phone contract becomes slightly cheaper, but the connection fees are what they are, and I would be more than surprised if the telecommunications provider made any distinctions here (keyword: equal treatment of all telecom participants).
