ᐅ Heat pump split systems instead of a fireplace and air purifier

LohenerHello everyone, as mentioned in the question, I want to use split air conditioning units for air purification and quick heating (e.g., when coming in wet from outside).
The otherwise planned underfloor heating systems are not so suitable for this purpose, especially in combination with low flow temperatures.
I am just starting to look into this and would like to know if it makes sense to continue researching.
What I hope to achieve:
Saving the fireplace (easier to plan)
No wood (less dirt on the property)
Cooling option in summer

I want to use ductless mini-split units for air purification. Buy professional air purifiers. An air conditioner cools but does not purify. It only filters dust and pollen. Instead, consider a ventilation system for fresh air.

The planned underfloor heating systems are not very suitable for this, especially combined with low supply temperatures. So when you come inside your nice warm home, where it’s 22°C (72°F), you want to heat up again? I don’t understand. Underfloor heating is slow, yes. But especially in new builds, it keeps the house at a steady temperature 24/7.

Saving the fireplace (easier to plan) A fireplace and an air conditioner are two completely different things. It’s like saying if I buy a smartphone, I don’t need a car.

No wood (less dirt on the property) A fireplace is about comfort and quality of living. Air conditioning is heating/cooling. During the uncomfortable seasons, would you rather sit in front of a noisy air conditioner and look at plastic, or in front of a cozy fireplace with crackling fire?
Air conditioning is for cooling. That is its primary purpose. It can also be used as (the only) heating, but neither as an air purifier nor, in my opinion, as a practical way to further warm a house. And definitely not as an alternative to a fireplace, since they serve completely different purposes.
What is the background of your questions? New build, renovation, pure interest? Do you have concrete plans?

Buy professional air purifiers. An air conditioner cools but does not clean the air. It only filters dust and pollen. It’s better to invest in a ventilation system for fresh air.
So if you come in from outside to a nicely warm home at 22°C (72°F), you still need to heat it again? I don’t understand that.
Underfloor heating is slow, yes. But especially in new buildings, it keeps the house at a constant set temperature 24/7.
A fireplace and an air conditioner are two completely different things. It’s like saying if you buy a mobile phone, you don’t need a car.
A fireplace is about comfort and quality of living. Air conditioning is for heating/cooling. Would you rather sit in front of a noisy air conditioner and look at the plastic or in front of a cozy fireplace with crackling fire during the cold season?
Air conditioning is for cooling. THAT is its original purpose. Alternatively, it can be used as (the only) heating. But it’s neither an air purifier nor, in my opinion, a sensible way to heat an already warm house further. And certainly no alternative to a fireplace, as the purpose is completely different.
Where do your questions come from? New build, renovation, just interest? Do you have concrete planning? Both new build and renovation
Thank you for your help

Both new construction and renovation Then:
1. Properly planned underfloor heating for regular heating
2. Fireplace for comfort, "just for fun"
3. Air conditioning for cooling in summer
4. Ventilation system. Centralized for new construction, decentralized at least for renovation (central if possible)
Alternatively, combine 1 and 3 and use a split air conditioning system as the only heating source. This eliminates the conventional heating with underfloor heating, but the floor will feel colder to the feet.

for quick heatingWhat exactly does that mean? Is a temporary 30°C (86°F) for a quarter of an hour desired?chand1986 schrieb:

I am really just looking for comfortable warmth when someone is chilled...
