Hello everyone,
we are switching from tiles to hardwood flooring and are looking for a suitable product.
We liked, for example, Villapark Oak Avena 35 or Faro Parquet 03 Trend XL white oiled from Bauwerk.
The selection is really difficult, but we prefer the white-oiled style the most.
However, hardwood floors are quite expensive in Switzerland. What should one roughly budget for a good floor? What should we pay attention to—oiled or sealed (we have
Do you know any suitable alternatives to the parquet options mentioned above? We live near the border with Germany, so pickup or delivery would not be a problem.
In Google searches, the company Planeo appears repeatedly—does anyone know it, and would you recommend Planeo?
Thanks a lot!

Parquet flooring is really expensive in Switzerland. Branded parquet is not exactly cheap in Germany either.

What should you roughly budget for a good floor? What does “good” mean to you? Every oak parquet is made from oak – differences come with wear layer thickness, 2-layer/3-layer constructions, or solid wood.
Nowadays, I only look at the price and don’t buy parquet costing more than €35/sqm (about $37/sqft). So far, I haven’t noticed quality differences after installation (based on experience with self-installed parquet in five properties), except that more expensive click systems fit together more precisely than cheaper ones.
Personally, I like natural finishes, meaning oiled floors. They require somewhat more maintenance than lacquered floors.

€35/sqm (about $35/sqft) is extremely cheap; currently, we’re seeing prices around €100–150/sqm (about $100–150/sqft).
What should one expect to pay for installation by a flooring installer if the parquet is glued? A friend told me roughly €80 (about $80) plus the cost of the parquet per sqm.

Where would you look? Online? Specialty store? Everywhere. I’ve even bought on eBay before (and didn’t regret it). Or clearance stock from parquet manufacturers (for example, at the factory of Haro). Specialty dealers are of course an option too, but it’s usually more expensive there (they only carry "brands"). In Germany, there are plenty of flooring shops, but you can also go to the home improvement store.
This was my last purchase – clearance stock for 32€/m² (around $35 per sq ft).

Then I guess I’ll have to keep my eyes open… because it really makes a difference whether it’s $120/m² (11.15 sqft) or just $60–80/m² (5.57–7.43 sqft), not to mention below $50/m² (4.65 sqft)…
In this case, Haro is recommended. Are there any other “good” manufacturers worth checking out?
How does parquet from a home improvement store differ from others? Or is it simply produced by well-known manufacturers for these stores?

We have it ourselves and I enjoy the floor every day. It cost around 55€/m² (5.1 USD/sq ft) back then. However, we didn’t actually choose based on price but rather on appearance and preference, and were pleased to find it wasn’t among the most expensive options.
