Alfa1970Hello everyone,
My friends and I have been noticing increasing problems with using public electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. Although more stations are being installed, it seems that there isn’t enough electricity available. Several EV drivers I know, including myself, have experienced stations that exist but often do not provide power. This causes frustration and uncertainty among users.
It appears that the grid expansion has been neglected, and the infrastructure is not keeping pace with the growth of electric mobility. In my opinion, more investment is needed in stable and reliable power supply!
Just my 2 cents

Dahlbomii13 Jul 2024 15:13Where have you experienced something like this? I haven’t come across it as relevant so far. 22 kW may have charged only 21.x kW despite a 30% battery, but you never really know if it’s the car or the charging station.
What I hate are stations that are shown as, for example, 6/6 150 kW. These are very often 4×22 kW plus 1×150 kW / 2×75 kW.

MachsSelbst15 Jul 2024 14:06This statement is about as sensible as saying, "Fuel prices are rising? I don’t care, I always fill up for 20 EUR."
And yes, indeed, besides bridges, roads, and railways, the next disaster is looming here.
Apart from the fact that most apps can’t be relied on… yesterday, DKV stubbornly showed 4 out of 6 charging points available at Ionity, but in reality, only one was free… the number of charging points is now questionably low, waiting times are increasing… and there are no designated parking spots for waiting, so the area in front of the chargers is pure chaos. It’s every man for himself. If you don’t act aggressively at times and just take a spot, you can easily end up waiting for an hour.
They want to encourage people to switch to electric cars. But that won’t work if every longer trip turns into a logistical nightmare and you have to leave the station at 30% battery because you don’t know if maybe five cars are already waiting and you have to drive on to the next charging opportunity.
At the moment, this phenomenon only happens during peak holiday season. During the week, I usually stand alone at one of 6 to 12 chargers.
