Hausbauer2314 Jul 2024 09:21I am a bit confused about air conditioning for our new build. I have asked three different companies so far, and all of them said the installation is only done surface-mounted, and I should get in touch once the plastering is done so they can take a look. They said there needs to be power supply outside for the outdoor unit, but nothing needs to be prepared inside.
However, I have seen insulated pipes installed flush with the wall (concealed) and also flush-mounted boxes for the indoor unit. Does anyone have experience with this? Could this cause issues with condensation and maintenance?

Piping for an air conditioning system can, of course, be easily installed flush within walls. I have even seen systems where the pipes ran along the raw concrete ceiling below the floor structure. That’s how I did it. The flush-mounted box is installed within the wall on the ground floor. Insulated copper pipes run inside the wall upwards and then are laid on the raw ground floor ceiling. They now lie like regular water pipes within the insulation beneath the screed. Next to them is a protective conduit for the cable between the outdoor and indoor unit. Power is connected at the outdoor unit and passed through the connection cable to the indoor unit.
The condensate drain runs down inside the wall and through the basement slab into the existing sump pit.
The bracket for the indoor unit is then mounted in front of the flush-mounted box so that it is no longer visible and all connections are concealed inside it.
