Hello everyone,

We are currently looking for exterior wall lights for our house.
It is important to us that they are up/down lights and as bright as possible.
Does anyone have any recommendations or which lights do you use on your house wall?

Best regards

What would you recommend for that?
What’s wrong with up/down lights?
Light pollution.
Glare.
Energy used for wall lighting that doesn’t benefit you on the terrace or at the entrance.

Choose attractive fixtures that only illuminate where you actually need it, e.g., seating area on the terrace, front door, the step before it. Use warm white light, which is also very comfortable for our eyes.
To be honest, the terrace lighting at our place is hardly ever on.

I admit that 10 years ago we installed up/down lights. The gable was specifically built for that.
Nowadays I am wiser, considering issues like light pollution and so on. As compensation, we have now opted out of garden and pathway lighting for the sake of hedgehogs and other wildlife.
For the entrance, there are common options with motion and dusk sensors. On the terrace, we have an LED light on the table.
But I think you definitely want these up/down fixtures. You can easily find them online through a simple search. However, I would advise against aiming for “extra bright.” On the one hand, it’s really not nice to have the brightest house in the neighborhood (which doesn’t necessarily mean the best quality light), and on the other hand, your exterior plaster might not be so smooth, so harsh lighting could actually emphasize its orange peel texture even more.

Hue Appear and Hue Resonate are not very bright, but they can be dimmed to very low levels. However, they are quite expensive, and the installation process is frustrating considering the price.

We thought the same. Since we moved in, we haven't turned on the spots even once. Absolutely unnecessary in hindsight. The photo was taken during the construction phase. Our exterior plaster could handle it, but still.
Our spots are from ssc-Luxon. Integrated into the Wi-Fi with virtually stepless color control, ranging from bright white (6000K) to dark purple. Also realized afterwards that it was pointless…

No, not at all. I really appreciate the suggestions.
We have planned two lights to the right and left of the front door and two lights to the right and left of our sliding patio door.
I assumed that bright lamps would be useful for both purposes.
At the front door to see who is ringing in the evening, and at the patio because our table with chairs will be placed right in front of the sliding door. We thought bright lighting would make sense there.
But maybe we just need more inspiration.
What kind of lamps have you used for these two areas?

It always depends on the architectural design of the respective area. For example, my entrance area is set slightly back, so there is a roof overhang of about 120 cm (47 inches). Therefore, I installed a very simple, flat, square ceiling light with a dusk sensor and motion detector. It only operates at dusk or in darkness. After turning on, it dims the light for a certain time before switching off. However, it can also be set as a night light, so it could emit light at a low percentage (not sure how low exactly) in the dark.
