Hello,
Does anyone know if insulation in the window reveal is mandatory? I mean, is it a recognized standard practice?
The masonry is solid wall construction, meaning just one single brick.
Unfortunately, the construction company installed the window reveal very poorly, and now I’m worried that they will remove it if I file a defect claim. Of course, nothing like that is contractually agreed.
Best regards

The masonry is monolithic construction, meaning just one solid block. No, insulation is not necessary there – that’s the purpose of building monolithically.

I don’t understand anything here. Please share photos showing how a window reveal is installed. At many points, a generous amount of expanding foam was applied, and the window frame will completely disappear under the plaster. You can also see this on the yellow and white strip.
The foam is partly 10 to 16mm (0.4 to 0.6 inches) thick, and the reveal insulation is about 35mm (1.4 inches). Together, I find that quite a lot.

Altogether, this looks like a textbook case of botched work. How does the unskilled worker justify adhering—by the way, to my impression, some random—insulation material within the foam bedding?

This looks to me like a textbook example of foolish workmanship. How does the tradesperson justify bonding insulation, which in my opinion is some sort of material, within a foam bed? The construction manager said the insulation was only fixed in place. The tradesperson did not comment on this at all. According to the photos and my email, construction proceeded immediately. My expert only asked questions and made observations. However, he left me uncertain about what truly constitutes a defect and what does not.
