Hi everyone,

We have a basement room that is roughly 3x4 meters (10x13 feet) in size. I would like to install shelves up to the ceiling to store everything that accumulates in a household of five people. Many items will be stored in the popular Really-Useful (35L) boxes, but there will definitely be other boxes and objects as well.
  • Do you have good experiences with any shelving systems?
  • Should it be a heavy-duty shelf?
  • Can you recommend any company or brand?
  • Is a corner shelf worth it, or is it better to simply install shelves "around the corner"?

Thanks!

I got mine from "Master Regale". Excellent quality, no cheap snap-fit system, I assembled it by myself. Available in various heights, widths, and depths. Additional accessories like hooks, etc.

Master shelves don't look bad at all. I'll try to put something together there.

I’ve gone through several suppliers/systems. I find the quality and the connector system there excellent. The price is reasonable. I also got some hooks and these grids. Great storage for cables and hoses.

Okay, I’ll play devil’s advocate here—I’m not a fan of Ikea junk at all. All of my cabinets warped over time. If you want something sturdy, adjustable as needed, and capable of holding a good load, I go with TEGOMETALL. These are the shelving units you see holding products in supermarkets. That’s why there are quite a few dealers selling them second-hand.

They come with various shelf depths and leg heights, colors, accessories, and at least three widths as far as I know—all of which can be combined as you like, leaving very few wishes unfulfilled. And the load-bearing capacity easily surpasses any Ikea cabinet by far.

They’re easy to assemble—a rubber mallet is enough as a tool.

I played around a bit with the dimensions... if I don't want to fill the entire space with furniture, this would still be an affordable version.

Floor plan of a room with surrounding shelves (1.2), central table group and area of 18.84 m² (203 sq ft).

Of course, no one can say anything about that right now because we cannot assess the type of your stored material and whether it is well accommodated. Smiling is no longer appropriate here.
