Hello,

we would like to use black (true black, 9005) for our entire house. The window manufacturer advised against it because we have a south-facing side, and the windows would heat up too much. Our windows are quite large: 4m (13 feet) lift-and-slide windows with external blinds and awnings, and 2m (6.5 feet) casement windows with roller shutters.

I am interested to know if anyone here has experience with this. Is black significantly worse than anthracite? And what could happen if they heat up too much?

Thank you all

It mainly depends on which windows are installed.

I would not recommend installing black windows. Plastic surfaces heat up significantly when they are black.
I have dark green aluminum shutters installed. On the west side, I close them during summer for heat protection to keep the bedroom comfortable. However, the slats on the inside can then become too hot to touch.

Extremely hot. Black windows could potentially warp, especially with such large units.

That's why refrigerated truck containers are white. If they were black, they would become soft like cheese.
Since plastic windows have metal cores, they will also expand.

Avoid black windows.

Dark window frames tend to make creaking noises if they are not manufactured to a very high standard and installed carefully. I would also be concerned that the higher surface temperatures could cause the plastics to age more quickly.

The windows are Aluplast 8000, which I have been told is not the worst model.

Is there really such a big difference between anthracite and black?

Yes, they are absolutely fine (Ideal or Energeto, aluminum or standard?).

No, both can be challenging in terms of thermal performance (or potentially so). Personally, after my last house build, I decided against the trend color anthracite in my current home because I had quite a few problems on the south-facing side (warped frames). Those were good Veka windows at the time (less than 10 years ago).

They are Ideal800, made of plastic
