Romeostar19 May 2024 22:10Hello everyone,
I’m currently considering whether it makes sense to purchase the photovoltaic system directly through the prefab house builder. It seems a bit expensive to me to buy a 10 kWp system with a 9.6 kWh battery storage for 26,000 euros including installation. What do you think?
Should I perhaps look separately for cheaper alternatives?
Or do the advantages like coordination, scaffolding access, and warranty coverage that come with buying through the prefab house builder outweigh this?
Best regards

The prefab house builder is definitely making a good profit here. Is that enough as an answer? You can’t really get much more in terms of warranty (although both the prefab builder and the solar installer provide the same guarantees).
Find someone who really knows about this.

Sounds like it’s not even planned for your house.

The solar installation industry seems even less transparent to me than prefab home manufacturers. Apparently, some solar companies have already gone out of business and then re-registered under a new name at the same address. In such cases, your warranty still becomes void. This can also happen with prefab builders, but it may be harder for them to re-establish and secure many new contracts quickly.
How do you find a reliable partner? By searching Google results in the region, or are there already directories that filter out scam artists?

Sounds like it’s not even planned for your house. At least, factors such as demand, consumption patterns, roof orientation, etc. were not taken into account. Probably only the roof area.
Although opinions differ when it comes to sizing... 10 kWp is a safe and neutral size.

The solar panel industry seems even less transparent to me than the prefabricated house builders. In the solar panel sector, some companies have apparently already gone bankrupt and were re-established under a new name at the same address. There are also larger companies. By now, almost every electrician and/or heating specialist offers photovoltaic systems as an additional service. You can also find suitable offers from well-established companies there. There is always a risk of insolvency. Even the biggest companies are not always well prepared for handling damages (example: Sony. I bought a very expensive TV from Sony. After 12 months, the main board failed and had to be replaced. It was a known issue. After another 12.5 months, the replaced board failed again. Sony’s suggested solution: bring it at your own expense to the nearest service center for inspection. BUT: the nearest center is about 600 km (375 miles) away, and possible repairs would be at your own cost since the warranty had expired. Unfortunately, Sony did not offer goodwill compensation, despite the known problem).
