ᐅ How to Seal Conduits with Underground Cables?

Good morning,

We want to install a conduit with underground cable in the garden for 1-2 outdoor sockets. We plan to run the underground cable inside the conduit to protect it and allow for replacement.

The conduit would end just before the outdoor socket (pedestal socket) underground and exposed to the elements.

How can we properly seal the end to prevent water, sand, dirt, or animals from entering the conduit?

Should we foam the end of the conduit? If yes, with what?

Or should we use a waterproof heat-shrink sleeve?

Or is there another recommended method?

We only want to install one underground cable 3x2.5mm inside the conduit, so DN25 should be sufficient, right?
Can you recommend a conduit?

With a suitable pipe collar gasket, you are on the safe side.

@filosof I didn’t express myself clearly.

It’s about the open end at the exterior outlet.

We are getting the power from the garage, and we will lay the conduit through the existing floor sleeve.

You can also screw in a circular space seal on the outside at the end. That would at least be a solution to your question. I have implemented it exactly like that for the very same reasons.

Is there possibly a more cost-effective solution?

Can the conduit be foam insulated, like it is done with other conduits that, for example, run to the roof for photovoltaic systems?

The cable inside the conduit will 99% likely not be replaced anymore.

Unfortunately, I don’t know. For me, the seal was the most practical solution (including power and LAN cables for the wallbox). You might also want to add another cable later on. That’s why I installed 125mm (5 inches) KG pipe – there is plenty of space, and the effort is the same...
