I want to extend my existing Besta into a display cabinet and use the built-in LED spotlights for lighting, ideally recessed. It is recommended to use a hole saw for this. Do you think it’s a good idea to drill two 76mm (3 inch) holes in the top panel of those particleboard pieces, or should I rather follow the instructions and install the lights surface-mounted?
Looking forward to your feedback.

I wanted to make something like that for cable pass-throughs (the module with the finished one was too shallow for me). Why do you think it could be a problem? Or what do you think would happen? It might tear, break through, or something similar. I just found a picture – the hole looks neat. Maybe I’ll try that too sometime.

However, this only works with a hole saw with a pilot drill bit.
