Hello everyone,
Basically, I will avoid home automation for cost reasons. The only thing I would like is smart roller shutters, to quickly darken all windows in the summer when it gets hot, for example.
I would prefer to avoid devices like Shelly or similar if possible. It shouldn’t be a DIY solution but still as affordable as possible.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what would make sense?

Has anyone here ever implemented their own automation system, for example with a Siemens controller? In principle, I could also consider installing a PLC in the distribution board. I would be able to handle the programming myself.

Have you already looked into this? I find a solution using Shellys to be far from what I would call a "DIY workaround." It works really well, is reliable, is hidden from view, can be operated by everyone, and is affordable.

Actually, not in detail; I’m just a silent reader in another forum.
I wouldn’t question it for renovations or similar. But for a new build, where I still have full control over the wiring, in my opinion it’s not the top solution. Or do you see it differently?

No, I agree with that. For new builds, it's not the top solution. If there is enough time, budget, and good planners available, I would prefer other options, but of course also do more than just blinds.

However, if a full smart home system is not desired at first and only the blinds are to be controlled, I would still consider this as an option for new builds. The wiring can be routed to the distribution board regardless.

That said, I am not familiar enough with the other systems to make a direct comparison.

Your statements seem somewhat contradictory. No budget for extra features, yet standard Shelly applications are too cheap/simple for you?

You either invest the money or work with common wireless solutions (whether Shelly or other more expensive systems).
