ᐅ Heat pumps consume a significant amount of energy and can generate considerable noise.

Hello everyone,

We have been living in our new house for one month now and are experiencing significant noise issues. The noise comes from the manifold of the underfloor heating system as well as the pump itself, which is very loud. The sounds are mostly sharp clicking or ticking noises, especially noticeable in the bedroom. The flow rate and the pump settings have been adjusted, but nothing has improved. However, it is always quiet in the early morning hours. Could it possibly be due to a setting on the unit? The heating technician has already been here but is unsure of the cause. Another technician from Bosch is scheduled to come and take a look, but I’m not sure if the pump is the problem. Also, the house is barely warming up at the current temperatures, and I am using more than 30 kWh daily, which seems very high for a 150 m² (1,615 sq ft) home.

At such a low flow rate, it is completely silent in our system.
Can you describe the noise more precisely or even record or measure it?
Is the noise caused by all circuits or only some of them?
So, is it possible to eliminate the noise by shutting off individual circuits completely?

Yes, when I turn all the flow controls to zero or turn them down, it gets quieter. When I turn the red or blue shut-off valve, everything also becomes quiet. So the problem must be somewhere there. I can try it, but you won’t hear much. It’s a continuous flowing noise, it reminds me of the radiators in my parents’ house—they also make those sounds when water flows in and they heat up. So it’s actually the opposite of what everyone here is saying: the more I open, the louder it gets.

What flow rate does the heat pump produce?

Have you ever checked what happens when you try to bleed the system?

Hello,
Are both manifolds affected?

It has been vented several times already. At first, I thought the noise was only at the top, but now I also hear it downstairs since I opened several valves based on your advice. The system and circulation were off. However, it is definitely louder upstairs. Where can I check the flow rate produced by the heat pump?

With acquaintances, there is no noise, but they have a bypass valve installed. Also in a newly built house.
