Hello,

we are looking for something to make the windows in our walk-in closet opaque, so that we don’t have to keep the blinds down all the time.

What would you recommend to make the windows opaque?

What would be the best solution?

When searching for "opaque window film," popular search engines quickly overwhelm you with results...

So you want permanent privacy? In that case, applying window film (e.g., frosted film) would be the best option. Depending on the location, this can be done only up to a certain height, like "half-height," leaving the upper part clear.

If you want to keep the option of having a clear view at times, blinds such as pleated blinds (plissees) are possible, but of course, you have to close them when privacy is needed. Another option could be mirror film, which appears reflective from the outside but still allows you to look out from the inside. However, this may raise aesthetic concerns and possibly unwanted reflections.

For permanent privacy, window film remains the best choice, and you can get professional advice from specialists (for example, vehicle window film installers).

Curtains, pleated blinds, frosted glass (ideally, this should have been sampled that way from the start) or frosted glass film.

However, this is only really an issue in winter when the lights are on. Otherwise, it’s not possible to see inside.

Thanks for the answers.

I wanted to know first what options we have.

Frosted glass film – how difficult is it to install? Can you manage it yourself somehow?

Pleated blinds – wouldn’t that be a good choice as well? You can make them opaque as desired but still look outside when needed.

We don’t have a walk-in closet, so I lack experience with what is typically done there. As a layperson, I would have assumed that you go in, get dressed, and then leave, rather than spend a long time looking out the window. Is it even possible to see inside from the outside, and if so, up to what height?
