Hello,

we are currently planning our semi-detached house.

I wanted to ask for your opinion on satellite TV.

Would you still consider satellite TV in a new build at all? So far, I have had good experiences with satellite TV.

A friend of mine told me that from 2024, fees will also be charged for satellite TV (similar to cable TV subscription fees).

Is that true? What is the story with these fees?

Does satellite TV still make sense?

Yes, I watch a lot of streaming and on-demand services, but I currently still use satellite TV for live sports.

Then minimize. I built the house because I want to live in it. If that’s no longer possible and it has to be sold, so much has gone wrong that the price won’t matter to me anyway, because life will already be in ruins.

PS:
For SAT IP, you don’t need a LAN connection in the attic. You run the coaxial cable into the home automation room (HAR), where the converter is located. It doesn’t belong on the roof, exposed to temperatures from -10 to +60°C (14 to 140°F)...

I get it, first you don’t want to prepare anything, and then suddenly you have a coaxial cable running from the attic into the utility room?! How did that get there?

I don’t understand why this topic sparks such sharp arguments right away. For a few hundred dollars, I get added value (for myself) and won’t have to worry about it later. Just like I installed electrical wiring and network cables to the outside, even without a defined use case yet. Or an empty conduit crossing under the paved area. And so on. If you don’t want or need any of that, fine. But please don’t dismiss everything other than your own opinion as pointless nonsense.

I no longer see any point in having a satellite dish and will leave it out. I also don’t need a fax machine anymore.
