Hello,

we are currently planning our semi-detached house.

I wanted to ask for your opinion on satellite TV.

Would you still consider satellite TV in a new build at all? So far, I have had good experiences with satellite TV.

A friend of mine told me that from 2024, fees will also be charged for satellite TV (similar to cable TV subscription fees).

Is that true? What is the story with these fees?

Does satellite TV still make sense?

Yes, I watch a lot of streaming and on-demand services, but I currently still use satellite TV for live sports.

I have installed it everywhere but have not set up a satellite dish until today (4 years).
I think it mainly depends on whether you watch public TV. We don’t, only Netflix, Amazon Prime, or Disney+.
If necessary, online media libraries for grandma and grandpa.

In every living and bedroom we have satellite TV connections. Since we didn’t have time to install the dish on the roof before moving in, we added IPTV from our magenta-colored internet provider after the move, originally as a temporary solution.
Conclusion: The satellite dish will probably never be installed.
IPTV, included in a package with all HD channels and subscriptions like Netflix, RTL+ and others, actually costs us less than having the subscriptions individually.
Before the renovation, I already thought it was unnecessary, but I was persuaded by my electrician.
“If you’re opening up the walls anyway, just install satellite, it’s no extra effort...”
I wouldn’t do it again. Completely unnecessary.

We had a satellite dish and removed it when repainting the facade. We no longer need it because of Magenta.

I just found the thread through the search. Do you happen to remember how much credit (if any) you received for removing the satellite wiring? I'm considering something similar...

50 EUR net per TV outlet and 25 EUR for the analog telephone connection.

Installation. You never know if there will be a breakthrough in satellite technology in 10 years…

I also keep it in the utility room. It works when the internet is down. After all, Netflix won't work then either.
