Hello everyone,

we are currently planning roof windows. Below you will find the attic floor plan, where the windows have been placed provisionally:

Upper floor plan with roof terrace, staircase, and living area

As you can see, there are also windows on the gable side. The roof space will be used as a studio and has no other interior walls.

Are 6 roof windows too many? Maybe you have some experience with this.

Hello @kbt09, it is 2.30 meters (7 feet 6 inches) where the staircase ends.

Are you sure about that? The dashed height lines in the roof are usually 2-meter (6 feet 7 inches) lines, unless they are already labeled as 1.50 meters (5 feet) on the left and right.

Is there also a section drawing? What is the roof pitch and the knee wall height?

That confused me a bit as well. But it is probably meant to show the height of the bottom edge of the roof windows.

I actually don’t want to make any more changes to the gable windows. They are the same size as the other windows on the gable side. Attached is the requested section:

Cross-section through a residential building with a pitched roof, window, staircase, and dimension lines.

My roofer said he would leave it at 6 windows. You can always darken the room later if needed.

Installing six windows just for the sake of it doesn’t make sense. The actual usage will show that they are positioned in the wrong places.

Use: Attic studio (play area for children, additional office, TV room, etc.)

Well then, please go ahead and draw the walls, doors, and furniture.
