Hello everyone,
Since the electrical appliances offered through kitchen planners are almost always close to the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (often feeling at least 50% more expensive than in regular retail), I would like to know your strategy regarding these appliances.

Of course, there are advantages to sourcing appliances through a kitchen studio/planner, but I don’t find the excessive markup justified.

Do you have experience contacting individual and wholesale dealers or competing furniture stores/planners to get quotes? Or are the prices on sites like “idealo” (reliable dealers) still the best option?
Over the weekend, I noticed that prices from stores like MediaMarkt, etc., sometimes don’t appear, even though they are listed on MediaMarkt’s website (this varies from appliance to appliance).

To be honest, I can’t think of any reason—except for the electrical connection for the cooktop—why you wouldn’t be able to source and install a kitchen appliance yourself.

The price at the kitchen showroom isn’t necessarily unreasonable, since they also deliver it for that price (+ 49 EUR (about 53 USD), sometimes even 69 EUR (about 75 USD) to your preferred location) and install it. And of course, they want to make a profit as well. They don’t sell these appliances with low margins and high volumes like big retailers such as MediaMarkt or myBauer.

Not every seller participates on idealo either. The companies pay for that since it’s indirectly a form of mediation.
Also, not every seller who lists an item can deliver it immediately or at all; they may offer it without guarantee.

Edit: I can write the seller’s name, but this forum software distorts external addresses.

We bought our current kitchen (rental apartment) from the cabinetmaker. The carcasses came from the kitchen manufacturer, while the solid wood elements were from the cabinetmaker. He said he could also get the electrical appliances through the kitchen manufacturer but advised us to purchase them ourselves. He installed them anyway.

Mediamarkt uses its own model names in part to prevent any direct comparison.

The problem will be that the kitchen planner will use their mixed calculation again. If they leave something out now, will they really pass on the price exactly as is?

When comparing prices, you really have to be careful to make sure you are comparing exactly the same appliance. The manufacturer and model name alone are not enough; each model often has a cryptic variant (for example, with or without pyrolytic cleaning, steam function, etc.), and even a single letter can make a big difference in the price.
