ᐅ New single-family house construction (180 sqm) with basement and building services engineering

Good evening,
We are still in the pre-application phase and have been thinking about building services for several years now.

Information about the house:
Single-family house with a basement and garage
Construction type: solid masonry or solid wood, not yet decided
Roof type: single-pitch roof facing south
Large window areas facing south

Our questions:
Which heating system would you recommend here?
(We have a large basement and have already researched ground source heat pumps and wood chip heating systems.)
My husband finds underfloor heating uncomfortable.
We would also like the option for cooling in summer (possibly with an air conditioning system). Due to the south-facing orientation with low pitch, photovoltaic panels seem suitable. We would appreciate any tips or experiences.

Could it be that you are even earlier in the process, meaning you haven’t found a plot yet and are naively brainstorming on a blank sheet? A zoning plan / development plan is not a wish list; it comes with its own requirements. It might specify a different ridge direction and/or a roof pitch that is inefficient for solar energy gain and/or only allows partial finishing of the attic and windows on the north-facing facade only. In that case, all your ideal planning ideas will be useless.

So, it’s off the table? That would be unusual for a new build. What exactly does your husband find uncomfortable about it?

What kind of standard are you aiming for? Passive house?

Are you building with an architect?

Anyone who finds underfloor heating uncomfortable either has a poorly installed system or none at all.
