Hello everyone.
For our new build (single-family house), I am planning a network cabinet. A total of 13 Cat7 cables will terminate in the utility room.
I would like to store the router, switch, patch panel, and a power strip inside the cabinet.
The provider will supply a FritzBox 7590 AX. In my shopping cart, I currently have a 10" switch, 10" patch panel, and 10" power strip. What wall-mounted cabinet would you recommend? I am currently considering a 10" cabinet with 6U of rack space.
We will also have outdoor cameras and a doorbell with PoE. I would prefer to store the data centrally instead of on the camera’s SD card. What kind of system would you suggest for this? The hardware should ideally also fit inside the cabinet.
Best regards

The QNAP Turbo Station TS-130 is currently discounted to 89 euros.
Wouldn't this already be sufficient for my needs?
1. Connect PoE cameras, receive notifications when motion is detected, view live images on mobile and stationary devices, store images for a certain period, and access stored data from both mobile and stationary devices
2. Back up data, photos, and videos and view them from devices
I don’t want anything more than that. Okay, the color isn’t exactly ideal.

I don’t really want more than that. Okay, the color isn’t exactly ideal. A NAS is a NAS is a NAS ;-) (… and not a server)
Please don’t confuse the two. A single-bay NAS can be suitable as an additional storage device. However, if the single installed HDD fails, the data stored there must be recoverable.
The NAS is definitely suitable for integrating one or multiple cameras (Surveillance Station with ONVIF-compatible cameras). But please not 5x 4K cameras; it will be overwhelmed (and you would also need additional expensive licenses).
These small NAS devices can now handle some multimedia streaming thanks to faster CPUs. But again: don’t expect too much. The risk is low as it costs only 89€ (+ HDD!). I nowadays tend to recommend IronWolf drives rather than WD Red (seemingly fewer failures, though we don’t keep statistics).
And who cares about the color? Honestly, do you sit in front of the rack watching the NAS running? ;-)
Maybe the washing machine? Okay, I was also very interested watching my 3D printer working at first...

I always ask not to confuse this. As an additional storage device, a single-bay NAS can also be suitable. But: If the only installed HDD fails, the stored data must be recoverable. I would save data additionally on a cloud service and on another hard drive connected to the PC anyway.

I’m now leaning more towards IronWolf drives instead of WD Red (feeling they fail less often, but we don’t have statistics). I’m unsure whether this offer is good or not? What alternatives are available up to 150 euros? What size for the hard drive would make sense?

What about a WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra? You can do that, but in my opinion, they’re not really suitable for this. The registration process is a hassle, among other things. Someone does buy them, but I definitely wouldn’t. That’s just my humble opinion ;-) For about 15 years now, I’ve relied exclusively on QNAP and Synology. We used WD single-bay NAS devices much earlier as (solely) backup targets for small and very small businesses. They were okay for that purpose, but nothing more.
