Hello everyone,

Maybe someone can help me.
We would like to create an opening between the kitchen and the dining room.

The planning is still in the early stages, and a first look at the floor plan has been taken.

There, I found the following symbol, which is unfamiliar to me, especially in this combination.

Does anyone know what it means? It concerns the symbol in the lower right corner of the dining room.

Thanks and best regards

You mean the symbol in the lower right corner of the dining room, right? That should actually indicate a chimney flue, and next to it is probably an "open" fireplace or something similar (at least the facing would suggest that). But with very high probability, the symbol should be a chimney flue.

Which symbol do you mean? The square with the diagonal should be the chimney, and next to it the fireplace. If you show the entire plan, we wouldn’t have to guess but could draw conclusions instead 😉

Hello,

a square or rectangle, diagonally shaded in black, always indicates a floor or ceiling opening. I suspect this is a chimney with a measured seating bench?

Thanks for the quick response, everyone!!

I’m attaching the overall floor plan once again.
The fireplace is located in the living room, where there used to be an open fireplace with a built-in seating area.
In the dining room, at this spot, there is only a wall.
On the roof, roughly above this spot, there is a pipe that regulates the air supply for the sanitary systems.
