Hello everyone,
we would like a patio roof as shown in the attachment.
For us, only half of the patio would be covered, specifically the area in front of the kitchen. Our design is finished, pending structural engineer approval.
Should the patio roof be included in the architectural plans and building permit / planning permission, or is it sufficient to address it during the landscaping phase?
Good luck

So, we have moved things around a bit and have come to the conclusion that the roof will be planned as posted above, and the doors will each remain at 2.70m (8 ft 10 in).
What will ultimately go on the roof is still unclear.
Maybe we will install an old-style skylight (already seen ) or use translucent solar panels, or maybe opt for the solid roof. We will decide that once the house is built and we start working on the exterior landscaping. Then it will be easier to imagine or test directly.
In our opinion, we actually have enough walls and corners to design, especially once the children move out. It's really a matter of personal taste.
Thank you anyway for your assessment.

Yay. Just a quick update on our construction project:
On Thursday, we will receive our red dot
The building permit / planning permission has been approved!!
(After only 4 weeks since the application – mind you, without a development plan but according to Section 34 of the Building Code.)
We are thrilled
Now we will move on to the detailed planning and tendering, and hopefully, the first excavator will arrive soon
Have a great evening, everyone

Our patio roof on the south side will be at least 5.50 m long (18 feet) and not very high because of the windows above. I actually think that we will find a shady spot underneath it in the afternoon, and for very hot days, there is still the lower north-facing garden.
But we will observe the sun position during the shell construction phase.
What does variable roofing mean? I’m curious about that now
