ᐅ Joint alignment between wall and floor is not symmetrical—what should I do?

Hello,
We were completely shocked when we entered our newly tiled bathroom. The tiler installed the wall tiles and grout lines in the shower unevenly in relation to the floor tiles. The problem is: we never received a tile layout plan beforehand, nor did he ask us how we wanted it done. Now we are very disappointed and absolutely don’t like how it looks! Is our only option to have the tiles removed, have it redone, and pay twice as much?

Yes, exactly, that is 1.50 m (5 feet) along the wall. What I don’t quite understand is that the glass partition will only be 1.40 m (4 feet 7 inches). Will the glass wall still have a door?
What is the gap size between the floor and wall tiles?

What do you mean? With three tiles plus a narrow strip, that would be over 180 m (590 feet)? Yes, that is what I mean.

In my experience, every trade that affects any visible surface after the shell construction has talked to me beforehand. The tiler spoke at record speed about random laying patterns, butt joints, profiles, and handed out 120 information sheets about what he must and must not follow...
Something clearly went wrong here. Especially since it seems no one was on site even once while the tiler was working... I went there myself and talked to the guy. That would have prevented some inconsistencies. He was happy to explain everything to me and showed how he was placing the tiles. Talk to the craftsmen, check in on site, and occasionally bring coffee and rolls… this really helps. Even if it means taking a day off work…
Fixing a complete disaster can easily cost you a week of vacation, if not a whole month.

With every trade that leaves a visible finish after the shell construction, I spoke with them beforehand.
The tiler spoke at record speed about random patterns, cross joints, profiles, and handed out 120 info sheets about what he must and especially must not follow...
Something obviously went wrong here. Especially since no one apparently visited the site even once while the tiler was working... I went there and talked to the guy. That could have avoided some inconsistencies. He was happy to explain everything and show me how he was laying the tiles.
Talk to the tradespeople, check in on site, and occasionally bring coffee and rolls... it helps a lot.

Fixing a completed disaster easily costs a week off work, if not a whole month. Thank you for your reply. Of course, we were on site and spoke with him and checked the preparatory work. We even took the whole week off work, which is the frustrating part. We just needed to know when the tiles would be installed on the wall, but we were not informed. When we came to the site the next day, the tiles were already up, and that’s what upset us so much because a short conversation could have prevented this. Especially since all the tradespeople have our mobile number.
Oh, and regarding refreshments on site – we obviously provide those, which I consider a matter of course.
But anyway, for anyone interested: we bit the bullet and had it corrected. Now everything is nicely symmetrical, the joint alignment looks great, and the tiler did a really good job. Time spent: 1.5 days. I’m glad we made this decision, otherwise I would have been annoyed forever. We definitely learned from this for next time.

How did you agree on the price? This is fully on us. But it’s fine, we didn’t want to start a dispute anyway. In the end, it’s about 1.5 days of work plus some new tiles.
