First, I would swap the cloakroom with the WC to give the WC a window. Second, I would remove the wall between the dining area and the staircase. If you are concerned about noise with two children, I would suggest separating the living room a bit more. You could also consider relocating the staircase from its current position and adding a partial wall where the basement entrance is.

One of the reasons is that the kids and their friends don’t always run straight through the dining and living rooms.
