ᐅ Dishwasher door broken off: Is it possible to screw it back on?

With apparently a bit too much force, our dishwasher door unfortunately slammed into a trash bin when opened. As a result, the four screws that were drilled from the inside of the dishwasher into the panel/dishwasher door at four points broke out. The former screw holes on the inside of the dishwasher door are, of course, no longer usable due to the damage.

But now I wonder: Is it possible to repair this somehow? Is there perhaps a material (as a layperson, I’m thinking of something like silicone) that can be filled into such (former screw) holes, so the door can be reattached to the dishwasher with four screws? Or is there no solution for this anymore?

Yes, wood filler/repair filler for wood. Available at any home improvement store.

I had the same problem.
I also tried several things. Unfortunately, the force required to open the dishwasher door is so high that it keeps tearing off. I bought a new front panel.

Alternatively, use wood filler and apply a generous amount of construction adhesive.

And above all, think about the “jerk”... 4 torn-out screws mean there was quite a bit of force involved.

If it’s from Ikea, I would try looking for a replacement front on classifieds or similar sites, in case it’s no longer available in their range. You can probably fill it with wood filler, but that will always be a weak point, and since you need to pull hard to open the dishwasher regularly, I would expect it to crack again sooner or later. If you go with the filler option, I agree with MistD’s advice to reinforce it further with construction adhesive. That stuff holds up quite well.

Enlarge the break points with a Forstner bit and glue in a dowel.
Similar to a concealed hinge, a screw will then hold firmly again.

A carpenter nearby might do it during their lunch break for a tip.
