ᐅ Who has experience with aluminum windows in single-family homes?

Hello everyone,
Since I know there are experienced homebuilders here who have probably dealt with the window question before – and even a former window manufacturer ([USER=32750]@11ant) – I have a question:
Who has installed aluminum windows in a single-family house? What are your experiences with them? Or who has deliberately decided against them, and why?
We currently have offers for aluminum windows and wood-aluminum windows. The prices are not that far apart.
We want the aluminum windows on the ground floor because we have large lift-and-slide doors and fixed glass elements there, and we want slim profiles. However, in the children’s rooms and bedrooms, there is some concern about a “office-like atmosphere.”
So our decision is purely based on assumptions/feelings, and I would appreciate opinions and experiences from the forum members.
Thanks, GD

We have pure aluminum windows. They were only installed in mid-April, so there is no long-term experience yet. Initially, I wanted wood-aluminum windows. However, since we planned to use a lot of wood in the interior design, we decided on full aluminum.
Our profiles come from the Belgian manufacturer Aliplast. The windows look very elegant, even though the profiles are not in the ultra-slim category: flush on the exterior surface, concealed hinges...
We have, among others, two large fixed glazing units (approximately 2400 x 2400 millimeter (94 x 94 inches)), two triangular windows under the gable, and two lift-and-slide doors (3500 x 2400 millimeter (138 x 94 inches) and 5000 x 2400 millimeter (197 x 94 inches)).
In terms of price, aluminum windows are definitely significantly more expensive than PVC (uPVC) windows. To avoid stress, I didn’t even ask for the price of the plastic windows – for the complete aluminum windows, Beck & Heun roller shutter boxes, and roller shutters with Z-lamellas (on all windows), we paid around 50,000 – including installation.

I’m also considering Aliplast. Which series do you have? At the moment, I’m leaning towards the "Star75 concealed sash" or "Max Light Invisible" series. Without concrete prices yet, I assume the Star75 is more budget-friendly.
If you have the budget, it’s definitely a great option. For ordinary homeowners, I would always recommend PVC and simply avoid planning any stress points. You can see through PVC just as well as through aluminum, wood/aluminum, solid wood, or anything else. There are far more worthwhile features to invest your money in.

However, the manufacturer said they don’t have long-term references for the Max Light yet, and that the profiles are not as well insulated as the others...

That, I would say, is a very good price.
Without the lift-and-slide door, we were at 77,000€. Upstairs we have wood-aluminum on the ground floor and wood-aluminum on the upper floor.
Complete wood-aluminum would have come to about 85,000€. The lift-and-slide door added another 4,000€ on top.
Aluminum was slightly under 75,000€ but without accessories.
