ᐅ IBC tank instead of a standpipe for construction water – is it possible or not?

Good evening!

We are wondering if it might be possible to rent the standpipe later since it is very expensive, and in the meantime set up an IBC tank. In your opinion, would this be sufficient? We are building a 140 sqm (1507 sq ft) bungalow with solid construction!

We would rent the standpipe from the screed stage onwards, if needed. Has anyone done it this way and can share their experience? Many thanks!

During the construction phase, we used water from our friendly neighbor—a garden tap with municipal water supply and a Gardena connection that was easily accessible.
This was sufficient for all the tradespeople and only involved a symbolic consumption fee for us.
Just some information for future homeowners.

Exactly. Since you already mentioned the neighbor with her car, buy a 20€ meter at the hardware store and get the water from the neighbor.

Just as information for future homeowners:
The utility provider must approve this in writing.

If I recommend someone to go through a red light because no one is coming at the moment... I also have to tell them that they might get into trouble for it.

What exactly needs to be approved?

Exactly. And don’t forget that the "contribution" to the neighbors also needs to be declared for tax purposes.

In addition, the water hose must be certified for drinking water use, because if water from it is used in the construction site coffee machine, the water counts as food.

It’s really no surprise that everything is getting more expensive nowadays. We obviously make things harder for ourselves than they need to be.

Good and proper approach.

According to which income type should that be declared? Probably Section 22 No. 3 with an exemption limit of 256 euros. But here we are talking about excess income, which the neighbor probably won’t have.

For the 3 liters (about 1 gallon) per day, it’s more practical to have bottled still water from a discount store available there.
