Hello,

we are looking for new chairs for our dining table.

I wanted to ask what to look out for and how to recognize quality?

What minimum weight capacity should the chairs have? At least 110 kg (243 lbs), 130 kg (287 lbs), or even 140 kg (309 lbs) plus?

(The heaviest guest we usually have weighs about 95–100 kg (209–220 lbs).)

Would you recommend chairs with or without armrests?

What do you think of cantilever chairs, or would you rather suggest classic four-legged ones?

We have a 200 x 100 cm (79 x 39 inches) ceramic dining table.

We have rocking chairs, which I find better than those with four legs. But that is completely subjective. My girlfriend has chairs with four legs, and she finds them comfortable, but I don’t. However, that depends on the cushioning, not the legs.
Go to a furniture store and try them out. Buy the ones that feel most comfortable to you. Chairs are not exactly a lifelong investment.

And the material should be easy to maintain or leather. You sometimes spill a little while nibbling.

We have had these for years. They are very comfortable. People weighing up to 140 kg (309 lbs) have sat on them.
Modern dining area with white dining table, black chairs, and two black pendant lights.

Men or women?
Depending on how someone’s 140 kilograms (309 pounds) is distributed, it can happen with these chairs that a woman might take the chair with her when standing up.

Make sure that the seat height matches the table height. In my case, the chairs (four legs with upholstered seat) are slightly too low. I hadn’t considered this before buying the chairs at a Swedish furniture store. My table is from a different manufacturer and is probably a bit higher than the furniture store standard.
