Hello everyone,
Following advice from our architect, we have started considering our kitchen layout, since we still have the option to move walls, windows, or doors if it helps optimize the kitchen.
Attached is a first draft of the kitchen plan, which I have roughly sketched. You will also find pictures showing the approximate style and cabinet fronts we are aiming for. According to the seller, the price will be around €13,500. Some additional information is included in the image. If you need any more details, please feel free to ask.
What do you think about the Nolte Manhattan kitchen in general? How do you find the overall layout? Does the offer seem reasonable to you? Do you have any suggestions for improvements?
Thank you very much and best regards

Well, you still need to check what kind of cabinets you actually have in the plan. You mentioned pull-out cabinets—what does that mean exactly? Are there two, three, four pull-outs? Shallow carcass or tall, etc.? We would need to review that again in another meeting. Since we didn’t catch that before, I don’t have the details in mind.

If the kitchen budget is tight, then go to the Swedish store. Their products are decent too. With some assembly skills, you can also manage to get the nice-to-have features. Well, the question is whether it’s really much cheaper. If you configure something similar at the Swedish store, it also ends up around 12,000 euros (about 12,000 USD). Then I might as well go with Nolte, right?

I’m a bit confused: until the end of last month, the floor plan was still being discussed. I hadn’t heard that any of the windows were already fixed and that the kitchen should be planned based on the current draft. Why is that confusing? There were no comments about the kitchen during the floor plan discussion. After consulting with the architect, we were advised to start with the kitchen now because we can still make good changes to the floor plan if something doesn’t fit the kitchen. Somehow, we have to get to the point where windows and so on are defined.

Well, the question is whether it’s really much cheaper. If you configure something similar at the Swedish store, it also costs around 12k. So why would I choose Nolte then? I haven’t looked closely at your configuration (and I can’t really because you only know the exterior shape, not the interior), so I don’t know what your kitchen would cost at IKEA.
As a rough rule of thumb, depending on the appliances, IKEA usually costs 20–50% less than Nolte. However, the quality of the wood components and the options for cabinets and system parts are also lower/smaller. Whether you notice that in everyday use? No idea.
I had a Nolte kitchen in my condominium, and now an IKEA kitchen in my house. The configurations are quite different.
But the drawers open and close smoothly (including soft-close), I used my space efficiently, and so far everything is holding up well. Some things are not perfectly level, but that’s more of an installation issue. Comparing the professional kitchen fitter who installed my Nolte with the one from IKEA is a bit unfair.
By the way, I bought all the drawer boxes and fronts in Poland (Szczecin) and saved another 30% (including travel costs). The carcasses are not cheaper there.
Edit: Oh, about the cost comparison between Nolte and IKEA. For the house, Nolte wasn’t even offered to me when I mentioned my budget (a bit over 10,000 EUR).
With Nobilia (a brand roughly half to one full level below Nolte), my lowest quote was 13,000 EUR without installation. Most others were closer to 15,000 or 20,000 EUR.
In the end, I paid maybe 7,000–8,000 EUR for IKEA. However, that was without a quartz composite countertop, so you should add another 2,000–3,000 EUR for that.

Oh yes, that's exactly what I’m still missing. My prices for the Nobilia kitchen are two to three years old. Nolte today would have to be at least 20% more expensive.
So yes, I also believe that your offer either does not include electrical appliances and/or does not include Nolte furniture and/or does not include any internal components in the cabinets (drawers, shelves). The countertop is probably missing as well.

I can only share what I took from the meeting. Siemens appliances were included, and the kitchen was otherwise the Nolte Manhattan model. A 40mm (1.6 inch) countertop was included. There were pull-out cabinets both in the main kitchen area and under the wall cabinets. Under the sink, there was a “regular door,” with the same on the left side. That wouldn’t bother us; it’s where you store items you don’t need daily.
We will ask for the alternative option with a large island to be offered again. Otherwise, the Nolte offer seems to be good 🙂
