Hello dear community,
I have been a silent reader in this forum so far and am always impressed by the ideas shared here. Now I need some help myself.
We are currently planning an extension to our house. Upstairs, we want to create our new bedroom with an en suite bathroom and a walk-in closet. However, the current design does not fully convince us yet. Maybe you can help us with a creative idea for a redesign.
What is important to us:
- The north side and the street side are at the bottom of the plan. Therefore, we would preferably like to keep the sleeping area on the south side if possible.
- All windows and walls in the room can be changed. Only the door to the bedroom must remain in its current position.
Attached is the floor plan. What do you think? What alternatives do we have?
Thank you in advance for your ideas and best regards
Hannah

Are you even allowed to build three full stories? Yes, it is a recessed top floor (setback floor) and we are actually allowed to build a little higher. Our neighbors are also significantly taller than us.
I have also realized the point about the bathrooms not being ideally located, but since we are renovating and not building completely new, our planning options are somewhat limited.

hanghaus202325 Mar 2023 14:18If it were mine, I would probably try the following:

Why? Placing the bedroom on the south side immediately creates a heat issue. Most people prefer to sleep in a cool and shaded environment. I would try to route the wastewater down through the entrance area, if possible and practical. The children's room should have good sound insulation accordingly. Otherwise, a shaft to the living room is necessary either way.
