Hello dear community,

I have been a silent reader in this forum so far and am always impressed by the ideas shared here. Now I need some help myself.

We are currently planning an extension to our house. Upstairs, we want to create our new bedroom with an en suite bathroom and a walk-in closet. However, the current design does not fully convince us yet. Maybe you can help us with a creative idea for a redesign.

What is important to us:
- The north side and the street side are at the bottom of the plan. Therefore, we would preferably like to keep the sleeping area on the south side if possible.
- All windows and walls in the room can be changed. Only the door to the bedroom must remain in its current position.

Attached is the floor plan. What do you think? What alternatives do we have?

Thank you in advance for your ideas and best regards

Hannah

Here is the corresponding front wall so that the bathroom can be drained towards the utility room.

In my opinion, the children's bathroom and the utility room should be swapped. What does the ground floor look like?

Thank you, hanghaus! We really like this, and it addresses the points of criticism mentioned so far very well. In addition, there are windows in every area, so we would have plenty of natural light everywhere.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a plan for the ground floor at the moment, but I’m happy to provide it later.

The ground floor is important to show how water drainage can be managed. It is also best to include the basement, if there is one.

The windows can still be optimized. However, the exterior view of both the existing building and the renovation should be used as a basis for this.

What I like about the design by @Ibdk14 is that you don’t immediately run into a wardrobe when entering. In the design by @hanghaus2023, this could be softened by making the first wardrobe along the wall shallower or lower. After all, the clothes chair has to go somewhere. 😉

I really like the bathroom in this design.

I would keep the access to the bedroom open (without a door) so it doesn’t feel so confined. This also lets in more light.
