Hello dear community,
I have been a silent reader in this forum so far and am always impressed by the ideas shared here. Now I need some help myself.
We are currently planning an extension to our house. Upstairs, we want to create our new bedroom with an en suite bathroom and a walk-in closet. However, the current design does not fully convince us yet. Maybe you can help us with a creative idea for a redesign.
What is important to us:
- The north side and the street side are at the bottom of the plan. Therefore, we would preferably like to keep the sleeping area on the south side if possible.
- All windows and walls in the room can be changed. Only the door to the bedroom must remain in its current position.
Attached is the floor plan. What do you think? What alternatives do we have?
Thank you in advance for your ideas and best regards
Hannah

I need to find out about the downpipes. Unfortunately, as you have probably noticed, I have no knowledge about them at all.

Bathroom and bedroom combined... hmm. Not really my thing.
So far, I’ve only seen a bathtub near the bed as a gimmick in hotel suites.
I can’t imagine the sliding doors providing enough sound insulation or privacy to properly separate the bathroom and bedroom.
And you’d end up with wet feet on your way to bed if someone just showered or took a bath.
In everyday life, I can hardly think of a more impractical combination than putting the bathroom and bedroom in the same room.
But of course, it’s a matter of personal taste. There have been several cases here with bathtubs in the bedroom:

I think Mellina also has a bathtub in the bedroom (with an amazing view), but there was no photo of it (or I can’t find it).

But maybe think it through beforehand if you really want it permanently—like if your partner has a stomach bug, for example, or if you’ve just cooked some spicy chili in the evening. Then there’s not much privacy left—unless one of you moves out immediately. 😎

Here is one option. I assume no walls have been built yet.

If one partner needs to use the toilet at night, the other wakes up immediately. Not to mention the odors. Showering is only possible when the partner is not sleeping.
And then there’s the moisture generated by the shower in a room with the wardrobes.
No, I would find that extremely impractical.
