Hello dear community,

I have been a silent reader in this forum so far and am always impressed by the ideas shared here. Now I need some help myself.

We are currently planning an extension to our house. Upstairs, we want to create our new bedroom with an en suite bathroom and a walk-in closet. However, the current design does not fully convince us yet. Maybe you can help us with a creative idea for a redesign.

What is important to us:
- The north side and the street side are at the bottom of the plan. Therefore, we would preferably like to keep the sleeping area on the south side if possible.
- All windows and walls in the room can be changed. Only the door to the bedroom must remain in its current position.

Attached is the floor plan. What do you think? What alternatives do we have?

Thank you in advance for your ideas and best regards

Hannah

Oh yes, only the exterior walls are fixed, the other walls and windows in the bedroom can still be changed.

Here is one option. I assume that no walls have been built yet.

Oh wow!!! We are thrilled, hanghaus2023!!!
Thank you very much for this fantastic floor plan! It’s really something different, and we can definitely imagine it working well for us!

Yes, all interior walls and windows are still adjustable…

My spot in the double bed would be opposite the toilet bowl. I can imagine something more pleasant.

Here, I imagine the drainage pipe issue to be even more complicated. Right across the living room below? Yvonne has rightly asked several times about the downpipes.

Bathroom and bedroom combined... hmm. Not really my thing.

So far, I’ve only seen a bathtub near the bed as a quirky feature in hotel suites.
I can’t imagine that sliding doors provide enough sound insulation and so on to separate the bathroom and bedroom effectively.
And on the way to the bed, you’d end up with wet feet if someone just had a shower or bath.
In everyday life, I find it hard to imagine a less practical combination than putting the bathroom and bedroom in one space.

But of course, it’s a matter of personal taste.
