Hello dear community,
I have been a silent reader in this forum so far and am always impressed by the ideas shared here. Now I need some help myself.
We are currently planning an extension to our house. Upstairs, we want to create our new bedroom with an en suite bathroom and a walk-in closet. However, the current design does not fully convince us yet. Maybe you can help us with a creative idea for a redesign.
What is important to us:
- The north side and the street side are at the bottom of the plan. Therefore, we would preferably like to keep the sleeping area on the south side if possible.
- All windows and walls in the room can be changed. Only the door to the bedroom must remain in its current position.
Attached is the floor plan. What do you think? What alternatives do we have?
Thank you in advance for your ideas and best regards
Hannah

This is the extension now. And it's supposed to be attached to an existing house?!
Will you show that as well? I mean... there are other options besides simply extending a house to add a sleeping area, especially in the south. Perhaps also considering the next water connection... Especially since the current proposal seems somewhat oversized. Don’t you think?

Thank you for your quick response! Yes, that would be the extension. Since we wanted to make few changes to the existing house, I left it out for now, but I can gladly provide it later. You’re right, maybe someone here has a tip we haven’t thought of at all... Unfortunately, we can no longer change the shape of the extension 🙁

I would plan to include a bathtub in at least one of the bathrooms. I find the walk-in closet relatively small, yet there is a large wardrobe in the bedroom? Kind of redundant. What I like about a design with a dressing room is that the bedroom stays cozy and manageable because there isn’t a huge built-in wardrobe taking up space. 🙂
The objection regarding the bathtub makes sense, and we do actually want to install one in the children's bathroom. Neither my husband nor I are bathtub users ourselves…
The point about the closet is also valid. Our only concern was that entering the bedroom through a narrow but long walk-in closet might feel overwhelming???
