Hello,
we have a recess in the entrance area between the stairwell and the guest bathroom.
We want to install a sliding door (marked in red on the floor plan) there to create a small storage closet that is not immediately visible.
It could be used for coats, shoes, a vacuum cleaner, or other items.
Does anyone know where I can find a sliding door that fits here?
The width of the recess is about 1.10m (3 ft 7 in) and the height (floor to ceiling) is about 2.50m (8 ft 2 in).
I have already tried to find a door but I am probably not using the right search terms.
Can you help us find where to get a white sliding door? Or do you have a better idea for how to use this space?
We cannot close off the back wall because the heating manifold is located there.

I was referring to a vertical blind and not a traditional curtain. For example, aluminum slats in the desired color or fabric... you can easily order these custom-made online, and they especially provide full access to the recess.I’m not sure. How do you open those? Do you have to pull a cord or a strap?
I think we would prefer a divided sliding door.
What are these doors called, anyway?
If you want part of it to be fixed, why not just install a drywall partition with a standard door that opens outward, like a bathroom door?
Also, search for vertical slat curtains. I had them for years in my old apartment for an almost 3-meter (10-foot) wide alcove. Split into two sections and pulling together in the middle, it gave perfect access to my "miscellaneous storage." There was a hanging rail for jackets and coats, an Ivar shelf unit for all kinds of small items, and more.
For a friend, we implemented this about three years ago in her small hallway. She needed easily accessible storage for shoes, vacuum cleaner, supplies, etc. So we equipped the hallway niche with Ivar shelves and a spot for the vacuum, and over a width of more than 150 cm (5 feet), installed a vertical slat curtain from ceiling to floor. It always looks tidy, can be color-coordinated perfectly, and can be custom-made affordably.

I built something like that into a niche.Haha... looks like an elevator.. @FrankChief I find all of that incredibly complicated and expensive for such a small space. I would go with a curtain. There are great fabrics that also make it feel a bit more homely. If you really don’t like it, you can still consider something more costly later. 😉Similar topics
