Hello,

we have a recess in the entrance area between the stairwell and the guest bathroom.

We want to install a sliding door (marked in red on the floor plan) there to create a small storage closet that is not immediately visible.

It could be used for coats, shoes, a vacuum cleaner, or other items.

Does anyone know where I can find a sliding door that fits here?

The width of the recess is about 1.10m (3 ft 7 in) and the height (floor to ceiling) is about 2.50m (8 ft 2 in).

I have already tried to find a door but I am probably not using the right search terms.

Can you help us find where to get a white sliding door? Or do you have a better idea for how to use this space?

We cannot close off the back wall because the heating manifold is located there.

I wouldn’t look at door manufacturers, but rather at furniture makers,
for example, an online shop of a Swedish furniture company,
or alternatively, built-in wardrobe manufacturers.

Well, the sliding door would have to glide over the bathroom door when opened. In that case, the frame of the bathroom door would need to be taken into account.

I think a vertical blinds curtain or something similar would be more practical there. There are some stylish options available. And when it’s open, the bathroom can still be used.

Does the Swedish furniture company also do custom-made pieces? I don’t think we will get this as a standard size.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that.
We were thinking of a two-part door.

For example, the left half fixed and the rest movable,
or one-third fixed and two-thirds movable, depending on how much space is left near the bathroom.

The sliding door must definitely not block the bathroom.

A curtain is not an option, since it is too sensitive to drafts, which can easily occur in the entrance area.

The carpenter would be my first point of contact to make sure it looks good.
And two doors that open one after the other,
the fixed section becomes cluttered or remains unused.

is probably the most expensive solution.

I had hoped that you could order it custom-sized from an online shop.

I can’t think of the right term to search for.

Friends of ours bought a house where it was done like this, and we didn’t think it was bad at all.

Unfortunately, there is no contact with the previous owner anymore to ask where they got the door from.
